Time Team visit in October

Richard Parker updated the meeting on the very successful ‘Village Dig’ in October, when, over a 3 day period, the whole village took part in ‘garden’ digs under his supervision and with the Time Team in attendance having done extensive research on the archaeological history of the village. Many interesting and potentially important finds were made which are currently being assessed.

There will be another June dig in 2025 at Brills Farm to which the Parish Council will commit funds in the new financial year.

Fosse Green Energy update

In the absence of Cllr Husemeyer, the Clerk read out a statement from Fosse Green Energy inviting all interested parties and residents to their statutory consultations being held locally on their revised proposals for a solar farm covering approx. 2200 acres either side of the A46 which will have a huge effect on the locality. Since when, Cllr Husemeyer  has sent a submission, outlining the Parish Council’s views to Fosse Green Energy.

Cllr Moles was pleased to inform the meeting that the hedges bordering the village, to which he had referred to previously, had now been cut. He also updated the meeting on the construction  progress relating to BCGT’s ‘Lancaster Bomber’ structure.

Cllr Gibson mentioned that the HGV sign at the end of Butt Lane had been removed, that the hedge on the S bend at the entrance to Tonges Farm needed cutting and that, although promised, no work had yet been undertaken by Lincolnshire Highways to alleviate the possibility of vehicles leaving the road after crossing Scotwater Bridge heading towards Stapleford.

Cllr Hall informed the meeting that the Village Christmas tree would be delivered in early December. She also asked, with a view to next year’s Remembrance Day, if a price could be obtained for 2 x ‘Lest We Forget’ British Legion soldiers.

A member of the public also raised an issue concerning the recently restored footpath between the Green Man and Stapleford village.
