Matters arising

A meeting was held on Monday 7th November at Breedon’s offices in their Norton Bottom’s Quarry between representatives of Breedon’s local management, Stapleford Cllrs and residents and Cllrs Hall and Husemeyer and the Parish Clerk. Items discussed were predominately relating to issues arising in the Stapleford Parish where current quarry workings are extensive and will be for the next decade at least.

However, the issue of restoration work close to Norton Disney village was raised and the Quarry Manager, Alan Stevenson, recently appointed, confirmed that this will be recommenced after some delay, in the spring, with the original footpath between the 2 villages completely restored in 2023.

The next meeting is scheduled for 15th  May 2023.

County & District Councillors’ Reports

County Cllr Marianne Overton reported on solar panels, insulation for Council Houses, children in care from abroad, adult care and climate change. District Cllr Mary Green had circulated her monthly report which included issues relating to avian influenza, Rural England Prosperity Fund and the Central Lincolnshire proposed local plan revision among others.

Ricard Fenwick, Lincolnshire Highways.

Since Richard’s last visit in November 2021, he has been promoted to ‘Head of Highways Assets’ and is undertaking a 3 year strategic review in January 2023 which will include advice to local authorities as to what work is likely to be undertaken in this period.
Local as well as County repairs to rural roads have been considerable during 2022 which has reduced the backlog substantially. Jet patching work has helped in this regard, he said. Issues raised during questions included weight limits on local roads, rerouting of HGV’s off the A46 when necessary and roadside degradation.
